About NameTree

Last updated:

NameTree began as a project Victor and Mia created while choosing a name for our own baby. We wanted a place to explore meanings, origins, and the stories behind names. We decided to make it public so other families could use it too.

What you can explore

Browse baby-name profiles and naming guides, compare popularity data, and follow the sources behind a name’s meaning and history. Interpretations can differ across languages and traditions; our pages distinguish uncertain origins from established ones.

Who is behind NameTree?

Meet Victor, Mia, and our contributors. NameTree uses AI-assisted content workflows. An author or editor byline describes the attribution recorded for that page; content without an explicit human review credit should not be assumed to have been reviewed by a person.

Sources and corrections

Name profiles link to their sources. Publication and update dates describe the page, not the age of a name or the year of a popularity dataset. If something looks wrong, send us the page URL and a source for the correction.
